One of the scariest movies of all time has to be the shining. I read the book and watched Jack Nicolson play the part of Jack Torrance the winter caretaker of an amazing resort located in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. He and his wife and son would be the only ones in the hotel for several months.
When Jack took his wife and young son to the Overlook Hotel, he had hopes of having time to be with his family and to write his novel. His wife hoped for a time to reconnect with her husband and to work through problems in the marriage.
There is so much to this story: Isolation, alcoholism, telepathy, clairvoyance, domestic violence, ghosts, death, and murder. I found it interesting that the hotel could put small little ideas in Jacks head to lead him to such violence against his family.
Let’s work with a couple of these topics (in a little less scary way) with our challenge.
I’m going to give you several different ideas to work with on this:
1. When you think about being isolated from the outside world (no phone, no car, no internet) for just 3 days with only your close family to keep you company, what comes to mind. What would you do or what have you done?
Do a layout with this idea in mind.
2. Have you ever experienced anything that seemed to be supernatural, clairvoyant, or unexplainable? Maybe it’s a dream that seemed a little too real. Maybe you've seen a ghost. I will even take something in the UFO realm.
Do a layout about that experience.
3. Speaking of hotels, do you have a favorite one to stay at when you are out of town? Why do you like it and why do you go there?
Or….
4. What about a mix of all 3 of the above: When you dream of getting away with just your family, where would you go and would it take some supernatural event (like winning the lottery) to make it happen?
NOW that you have an idea for a layout……ADD SOMETHING SHINY TO IT!!

New items are in, coming and being ordered!! Yeeeee haaaaa!!!! Gotta love the new!!
It's been such a crazy month with everything going on that I thought a little Scrap Therapy would be in order. So many people have been working on projects for weddings or baby showers or for some big event. It's time to take a break and enjoy scrappin again just for the fun of it. Hey if you can win a little something in the process, EVEN BETTER!!!
